If it is the Genny I'm thinking about it is indeed a cold water stream.Even in low surface flows a lot of the river is flowing underground
and delivering its bounty. We are presenlty camping in Colburn,PA. Gonna visit State College tomorrow. Was at Fly fishermans Paradise today
saw plenty of cold water but not much fish activity at 2 in the afternoon.W ina try Spruce but it is very hard to get on,but I might have a connection.
Realy do not know when or why I will be back.Might go over to the Battenkill in Vermont for there show on my way to the coast of Maine.
Lobster is tough to find in these mountains. However, the corn crop is coming in It is best during a hot dry summer like we're having.

Well...the "Cold Water Tour"---my favorite waters for hot weather fishing in frigid spring-fed creeks continues, again, today.

Yesterday saw another superb day on a stretch of summer water I haven't fished in 25 years. The cool, 63F water has not changed one bit. No thermal refuge required here!

My pattern of choice, in hot summer, has always been the Carpenter Ant--since teenage years. You can see the ant hanging out of the fish's mouth in the pic below.

This one here nailed it on the second cast, below a log jam. Several of these wild fish were willing---and it was great fun. 16 inch wild browns were---and I guess still are-- common in summer--and I've taken some up to 18". Not a sole around----

A nice, wild brown from waters I discovered as a kid...

Here's another fish...This one got a little too anxious when he saw my Ant

Today, I'm off to Caledonia, then north. So far, my summer loop has taken me through 10 streams---from Pa. to Central NYS, to the Adirondacks...and back.

But, the Spring Creek up in Caledonia is one of my favorite NYS spring creeks, and probably the toughest NYS trout stream I ever wet a line in...

Ed....Spring Creek was fishing well this morning ...although your "lock-jaw" big, wild browns were waiting for you...not me.

Fishing is better toward evening...but have to fish 8X and #26's. Going back later on.....
