Bergman Nymphs

Some call them Bottom Dredgers. They are too often over shadowed by the dry fly, but have their place here.

These have always been something I looked at and never gave much thought to but I dug out the Guinea fowl skin and gave e'm a try. A little brown marker for the backs and there you go! R.B. Nymph No.1...

I've "looked" at those things for over 40 years, and I always wind up figuratively shaking my head and wondering, "Where did he come up with that?" They look like nothing I've ever found in a trout stream -- at least nothing living. Of course, I imagine they work wonderfully.

BTW, my comments should not be inferred as any criticism of your tying, John, which is wonderful.

A couple more,
R.B. Translucent Amber Nymph and an R.B. Caddis
Image

From a photo of one I have seen before, I believe the Translucent nymphs were actually a molded bodied fly, some clearish plastic or rubberized material. Not having any of the injection molding equipment and materials handy, this one is tyed with an underbody of white floss, and amber floss over. CJ
